SXSW Day 4

  • Attended "5 steps to bulletproof UX strategy" - 4/5
  • Checked out the trade show that opened
  • Attended "Critical thinking for UX designers" - 3/5
  • Attended the Invest NI meetup
  • Attended the MMXINI party
  • Attended the Say media party

Lots of interesting stuff at the trade show, you could easily spend all day in there.

Good to meet up with the rest of the NI companies. Terry Reilly (Invest NI) does a great job of taking care of us while in Austin and organising these get togethers.

My US sim card is a bit hit or miss. Very awkward to make phone calls. Data works only sometimes. Relying on Twitter and Gowalla to keep track of where people are.

Have realised I've attended far too many UX talks and it's time to learn about something different on the final day.

In other news, IE9 is available for download.

SXSW Day 3

  • Attended "Dork intervention: Bringing design to agile" - 2/5
  • Attended "No excuse: Web designers who can't code" - 4/5
  • Attended "Go here do this: Location + collective action" - 1/5
  • Attended UKTI Grill party
  • Attended Vimeo party

There are so many talks happening at the same time it's hard to choose which one to go to, so you take a risk as they might not be any good.

Looking forward to the trade show opening day 4.

Also the big MMXINI party.

SXSW Day 2

  • Attended "How print design is the future of interaction" - 3/5
  • Attended "The lean startup: King of the apps showdown" - 4/5
  • Watched Rich Dale pitch Planzai to a panel
  • Met up with Sharethrough
  • Attended "The lean startup: Pirate metrics for design & distribution" - 5/5
  • Attended "UX Meetup" and swapped a load of business cards - 4/5
  • Attended "Metrics driven design" - 5/5
  • Ate at The Spaghetti Wharehouse
  • Attended the TypeKit party and met a load of cool designers

The ante was definitely upped on day 2. The quality of talks available was superb. Loved all the 'lean' startup/design talks.

Amazing how many people have an iPad 2 already.
